La agenda inconclusa - Regional Consultation

La agenda inconclusa - Regional Consultation

Mexico City, Mexico

June 5, 2012 - June 6, 2012
8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Meeting

In 2012, Women Deliver, in partnership with regional organizations, will hold invitation-only regional consultations for 100-150 participants each in sub-Saharan Africa; Latin America and the Caribbean; Asia; and the Middle East and North Africa. Policymakers, researchers, experts, and advocates will discuss regional success stories, lessons learned and pathways for future progress in maternal and reproductive health, with a focus on the International Conference on Population and Development’s (ICPD) Plan of Action and Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 5.

For each consultation, we will disseminate video, materials and an outcome report. The discussions at each consultation will help shape the agenda for our next global conference in 2013 and will also be delivered as key recommendations to the United Nations Secretary-General’s office.

Young people are critical stakeholders, and our consultations are designed to incorporate their input. A small group of 15-20 youth advocates will take part in a pre-consultation workshop. Participants will learn advocacy strategies, identify areas for cross-sectoral collaboration and network through a series of interactive sessions. They will also attend each consultation, to provide a youth perspective.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, La agenda inconclusa (The unfinished agenda) will take place on June 5-6 in Mexico City, Mexico.

The coordinating partner is Grupo de Trabajo Regional para la Reducción de la Mortalidad Materna (GTR).
