The Maternal Newborn Health Technical Advisor will support issues identification analysis, sharing of promising practices and monitoring and evaluation in the areas of maternal and newborn health, including skilled birth attendance; basic and/or comprehensive emergency obstetric and newborn care with an emphasis on prevention, identification and treatment of pre-eclampsia/eclampsia and postpartum hemorrhage; prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV; integration HIV and TB interventions into MNH services; health systems strengthening and quality improvement; scale up of essential newborn care and newborn resuscitation and expansion of community-based approaches to newborn care.  This position will ensure the technical and methodological soundness of proposed MNH strategies and policies to reach MNH objectives in Africa in collaboration with the project team partners African institutions and USAID based on sound and current scientific evidence and findings from project evaluations.
