About us
The Newborn Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, is an unrelenting advocate for newborns. The Foundation seeks to convene a space for mutual progress that focuses on newborn specific needs in that can be addressed through health innovation and health information technology. Every child, regardless of ethnic or socioeconomic status, begins his or her life at a disadvantage due to the shortcomings of a health care system that does not account for their unique needs. The Newborn Foundation facilitates vital research and pilot projects while bringing together public policy and clinical expertise in the electronic health, pediatric population health, rural/telehealth and medical technology to reduce infant mortality and improve outcomes for newborns, particularly in resource-challenged settings. In conjunction with the Newborn Coalition (501(c)4) our efforts define and target gaps in our current system and to ensure that future children are born into an eHealth and mHealth enabled system that is prepared from their first breath, will grow with their needs, and support optimal outcomes for the rest of their lives.
The Newborn Foundation already has the policy and programming support to target outlying and disparate health settings - promoting development of technologies (both health IT and point of care) and scalable systems and infrastructure that allows for rapid diagnostics and health information exchange to:
Reduce health disparities and significantly improve the access to critical care and quality of care for new mothers and newborns
Inform appropriate medical decisions at the time/place of care, regardless of how remote
Improve coordination of care and information among health workers, hospitals, labs, physicians, public health entities, etc.
Encourage early detection, prevention, and management of pediatric diseases and disorders
Improve overall public health activities
Facilitate early identification/rapid response to public health emergencies
