Saving Newborn Lives – Progress in newborn health in Indonesia and Mali

This study investigates the momentum for and institutionalization of newborn health from 2000 to 2012 in two countries, Indonesia and Mali, supported by Save the Children’s Saving Newborn Lives (SNL) program. The study comprises two country case studies and a synthesis report that draws lessons across the two. The reports provide the background of each country’s status prior to the SNL program and summarize progress made between 2000 and 2010 using SNL’s “pathway to effective coverage” as a framework. The reports conclude with stakeholder suggestions for actions needed to ensure continued progress in newborn health as well as the study team’s recommendations on what should be prioritized.
