Accountability has been a cornerstone of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s Every Woman Every Child movement since its launch in 2010. It is essential to accelerating progress for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health because it enables the tracking of resources, results and rights, and provides information on what works, what needs improvement and what requires increased attention. Now, the Every Woman Every Child accountability model is being strengthened through the development of the Unified Accountability Framework to support action towards the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health (Global Strategy), in the context of the broader SDG follow-up and review processes over the next fifteen years
