Each year, preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy take the lives of 76,000 moms and 500,000 babies, while affecting millions more. The majority of maternal and infant mortality may happen in low- and middle-income countries, but we know that it tragically happens in high-income countries too. Preeclampsia knows no global boundaries.

Did you know that there are about a dozen patient advocacy organizations around the world, like the Preeclampsia Foundation, focused on improving preeclampsia patient experiences in their own countries? These organizations partner together to amplify the common experiences that weave through all our stories.

Join the Preeclampsia Foundation on Monday, May 22 for World Preeclampsia Day at 8 am EDT for a live Global Chat with advocates from Action on Pre-eclampsia (APEC) UK, APEC Ghana, the International Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy (ISSHP), Preeclampsia Foundation Canada, the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine India, and Zuri Nzilani Foundation of Kenya to talk about preeclampsia in their countries.
