USAID’s Center for Accelerating Innovation and Impact (CII) applies business-minded approaches to the development, introduction and scale-up of health interventions to accelerate impact against the world’s most important health challenges.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) established the Center for Accelerating Innovation and Impact (CII) to promote and reinforce business-minded approaches and help accelerate impact against some of the world’s most important health issues. By applying these forward-looking practices to USAID’s health investments, CII invests seed capital in the most promising ideas and applies a rigorous, private-sector approach to cut the time it takes to transform “discoveries in the lab” to “impact on the ground.”
The Center focuses on three channels to promote innovation and impact:

1: Identifying and Applying State-of-the-Art Practices
by engaging luminaries in the field and examining successes and failures across a range of markets and sectors

2: Catalyzing Innovation
by harnessing the power of previously untapped innovative minds worldwide to catalyze new solutions for tough and seemingly intractable health challenges

3: Scaling for Impact
by applying innovative and proven ways to introduce and scale innovation, address market inefficiencies, leverage private capital and tap the expertise and engagement of the private sector
