What we do

Our international strategy is focused on working with partners in the UK and overseas to improve the health and wellbeing of all children.

Our goal is to further the College’s mission ‘to transform child health through knowledge, innovation and expertise’. We will achieve this through the College’s values of authority, modernity, influence and professionalism, together with those of respect and equity.

We run a number of programs, including the following:

Global Links Volunteer Programme
The Global Links Consortium is a volunteering and exchange scheme in which UK paediatricians undertake 6 to 12 month voluntary placements in Africa, while clinicians from Africa undertake placements or observation visits in UK hospitals.

ETAT+
The Emergency Triage, Assessment and Treatment plus (ETAT+) training intervention aims to improve the quality of care for infants and children presenting at rural hospitals in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. 18 consultants have been recruited to act as mentors for each of the 18 hospitals receiving the ETAT+ intervention.

RCPCH/VSO Fellowship Scheme
RCPCH continues to offer the Fellowship programme in conjunction with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO). The scheme offers 6 to12 months long placements working to build capacity in paediatrics and child health services in developing countries.

Child Health in Palestine
With funding from the Tropical Health Education Trust, David Baum International Foundation and Medical Aid for Palestinians, the RCPCH has been working with local partners to train healthcare professionals in Palestine for more than a decade, with the inception of the Diploma in Palestinian Child Health training programme. This was jointly developed and run by the RCPCH and Al-Quds University, Faculty of Medicine – Jerusalem.

Global Health Consultancy
The GHC is a register of paediatricians and other health professionals who are interested to engage in global child health, particularly in low and middle-income settings.
