Webinar | A Consultation on Faith Actors As Essential Change Agents in Maternal Mental Health

Register for the Webinar

Religious leaders influence and shape community attitudes, beliefs, and actions on a wide range of topics, including health. Ensuring faith leaders have accurate information about a variety of health issues to share with their communities is crucial. In addition to the important influence of faith leaders on health behaviors, faith actors provide a substantial share of health services in many areas.

Myths and misconceptions surrounding mental health can increase stigma and discourage people from getting the help they need. MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership has a suite of materials on perinatal/maternal mental health and plans to create a toolkit to address myths and /misconceptions and promote factual messages on perinatal mental health for a faith- based audience.

During this consultation, we will ask for your feedback on:

  • What is the role of faith-based organizations/leaders in helping to promote good mental health and support those with perinatal mental health issues?
  • What tools and programs already exist that faith communities can build upon?
  • What kind of information would faith communities like to be included in a toolkit that will help address perinatal mental health issues?

In addition to the feedback we gain from you and other faith-based partners, we will consult the following material as background for the toolkit.

Speakers Include:

  • Shanon McNab, Sr. Technical Advisor, MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership
  • Ify Yusuf, Co-Chair, Perinatal Mental Health Community of Practice, and Innovations for Poverty Action
