Arshad Mahmood

Mr. Arshad Mahmood is the Senior Manager of Advocacy and Campaigns with Save the Children in Pakistan. Arshad Mahmood has been working in the development sector since 1998. He started his career as a researcher and worked with different research organizations and consultants. Mr. Mahmood joined the Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) in 2000 as Program Coordinator and played a key role in expanding SPARC from Islamabad to the rest of the country and rose to the position of Deputy Executive Director before leaving SPARC in 2006 to join UNICEF. During this period he closely worked with Save the Children Sweden and UK and remained Coordinator of the Juvenile Justice Network (JJN) NWFP for four years. In 2007, he was awarded the prestigious PJD Wiles Scholarship by the London School of Economics (LSE) for his Masters in Human Rights from the LSE. He also holds a Masters in Social Anthropology from the University of Peshawar. In 2009, Mr. Mahmood joined Save the Children UK as Program Manager Child Protection and played a key role in establishing Mardan Field Program Office and launching the emergency response to respond to the IDPs emergency in Mardan. He joined SPARC again in January 2010 as Executive Director and led the organization for two years before joining Save the Children again as Senior Manager Advocacy and Campaigns.
