Edith Uyovbukerhi

Edith Uyovbukerhi is Co-Founder of LittleBigSouls International Charitable Organisation, a not-for-profit organization incorporated in the UK, and in Africa (Ghana and Nigeria), committed to advocating on the serious issue of prematurity and the reduction of the terrible rates of death and disability for pre-term babies, particularly in Africa. She is a fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and holds an MBA in Finance from Stirling University in Scotland and a Bachelor’s degree from Brighton University, Brighton UK. Edith has had wide experience spanning over 20 years in accounting, finance and business management, strategic planning, project management and business systems implementation in the UK. She has had an impressive career and been involved in major international projects and held key headship roles in high profile blue chip companies in the United Kingdom like, Cadbury Schweppes, Nestle Purina plc. and Diageo plc. She took an international assignment in 2007 to a Diageo plc. subsidiary in Ghana, Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited as Head of Business Performance and Strategy. She is currently the CEO of Sun Ridge Company Limited, manufacturers of Safina, a leading bottled water brand in Ghana. Edith is a strong believer that the African woman is uniquely placed by way of heritage to be a formidable force for advancement and achievement globally and brings that into her involvement with women’s leadership organisations. She is a Co-Founder of Strands of Pearls International, a women’s business leadership organisation and serves as Director of the African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO), a non-profit organisation. She is an advocate for mentoring of young women as a means of ensuring a stronger next generation of women of colour. Edith’s royal lineage, Christian upbringing and strong family have inculcated in her a sense of giving back to humanity and of responsibility for those less fortunate. She is involved in a number of community and charitable projects at local and international level. Edith’s experience of prematurity is a deeply personal one. She co-founded LittleBigSouls following the tragic and very avoidable death of her preterm daughter in a hospital in Accra, Ghana in circumstances that were highly avoidable if the necessary infrastructure and facilities had existed in that hospital. Her goal is that through the work of LittleBigSouls, they are able to level the playing field for care of preemies born in Africa and to give these precious babies a fighting chance at survival. She is married to Mitaire and they are blessed with three wonderful children, and live in Ghana and the UK.
