Madhu Deshmukh

As the chief of party, Madhu provides strategic and technical leadership to develop, test, and scale innovative solutions for ensuring delivery of high-quality and cost-effective critical health interventions to save maternal and newborn lives in Bihar. Madhu has been working in the developmental sector for the past seventeen years, with a range of partners including community-based organizations, NGOs, the Government of India, the UN, and bilateral organizations. Before joining CARE, she worked with UNAIDS in Geneva. Prior to that, she worked with several grassroots-level NGOs in India, the Government of India’s National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), and other organizations such as the UK’s DFID, UNAIDS, and UNDP at national and Asia regional levels. She holds a master's degree in social sciences from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and a bachelor’s degree (with honors) in psychology from Delhi University, India.
