Babatunde (Tunde) Segun is the Country Director for E4A in Nigeria. He is responsible for providing strategic direction for E4A in-country including the effective coordination of efforts across evidence, advocacy and accountability in the area of maternal and newborn health as well as leveraging resources and identifying partners/synergies to deliver the country operational plan and linkages to regional efforts through E4A supported initiatives. Tunde is a Public Health Physician with over twenty-two years of diverse and extensive experience in Public Health, particularly adolescent reproductive health; and maternal and newborn health. He was the national focal person for Adolescent Reproductive Health at the Federal Ministry of Health and also the Deputy Country Director for a USAID funded project called Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program (MCHIP). Tunde has worked in collaboration with various UN bodies – WHO, UNFPA and UNICEF, the World Bank, Government Ministries – Federal Ministries of Education and Women Affairs, State Ministries of Health as well as National and local Non-Governmental Organisations. He is currently a member of various national coordinating bodies such as the Core Technical Committee on Integrated Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, National Reproductive Health Working Group, Family Planning Action Group and the Health Sector Reform Coalition. Tunde holds a Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) and a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) both from the University of Lagos; a certificate in Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health from the Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge University, UK in collaboration with International Planned Parenthood Foundation (IPPF) and GTZ. He also holds a certificate in Reproductive Health and Development from the Bill and Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
