Vanora Hundley

Dr. Hundley is an Associate Professor at George Mason University. She trained as a nurse and midwife in the UK, and has worked in UK, Hungary and USA. Her primary research interests focus on the promotion of normal pregnancy and childbirth. Recent studies have explored labor practices and their impact on maternal and neonatal outcomes, both in developed and developing countries. Her research methods expertise is in program evaluation, questionnaire surveys and in measuring consumer preferences for models of care. Dr. Hundley has a strong research background. She is a reviewer for several international journals (including the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the British Medical Journal, Birth and the Journal of Advanced Nursing) and has been a grant reviewer for many UK based funding bodies. Dr. Hundley served as an European representative on the Research Standing Committee of the International Confederation of Midwives from 1999-2005 and continues to serve on the ICM Research Advisory Network. She has authored/co-authored more than 60 peer reviewed papers. She enjoys mentoring students and has directed both doctoral dissertations and master’s theses. Dr. Hundley is also Honorary Senior Research Fellow with the NMAHP Research Unit at the University of Stirling, Scotland.
