Save the Children’s Saving Newborn Lives (SNL) program and the Council of International Neonatal Nurses (COINN) sponsored the second International Neonatal Nursing Awards in 2013, seeking to recognize nurses who specialize in newborn care in resource challenged settings, where the majority of newborn deaths occur.
Two winners and one runner up were recognized at the 8th International Neonatal Nursing Conference held in Belfast, Northern Ireland from September 5-8, 2013. Christine Sammy from Kitui County, Kenya and Anila Ali Bardai from Karachi, Pakistan were identified as the 2013 winners. Netsayi Gowero from Blantyre, Malawi was selected as the runner-up.
