Jane Hirst

Dr Jane Hirst is an obstetrician and gynaecologist currently based in the Nuffield Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, University of Oxford where she holds a Nuffield Medical Postdoctoral Fellowship. She is also an Honorary Consultant in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, UK. Her research interests are in global health, particularly in the areas of stillbirth prevention and diabetes in pregnancy. She has conducted research and education programs in Australia, the United Kingdom, Africa, Malaysia, Fiji and Vietnam. Currently she is working with the large multinational INTERGROWTH-21st consortium, based in Oxford, investigating the causes and consequences of poor growth in the first 1000 days of life around the world. She is the UK lead for dissemination of the INTERGROWTH-21st tools for monitoring fetal and newborn growth.
